Feed The Herd, Not The Landfill
At Mesa Verde, we sustainably upcycle recovered food and beverage materials into high-quality livestock feed. Through our controlled process—from pickup and de-packaging to dehydration and nutrient blending—we create cost-effective, nutritionally valuable feed products. Much of this feed is used in our own cattle operations, allowing us to close the loop and control the entire supply chain from waste recovery to animal nutrition. This integrated model reduces environmental impact, enhances traceability, and ensures consistent, sustainable feed for our livestock.
DRY and wet FOOD RECOVERY
Redefining food-related recycling and reuse
Our Process
De-packaging
After obtaining foods being discarded by retailers and manufacturers, our first step is de-packaging using an automated system that separates the organic food material from the inorganic packaging. The end result is contaminant-free organics and clean, dry inorganics.
Certification of Destruction
When recalled or expired food products have been completely and securely destroyed, Mesa Verde provides the seller with a Certification of Destruction. Additionally, any remaining materials are recovered and recycled.
Finished Products
In the final stage of our food recovery process, the contaminant-free organics are dried and processed into safe, high-quality ingredients for our cattle. Inorganic material is recycled.

Extracting valuable compounds from pre-consumer liquid foods and beverages
Our Process
Separation and Filtering
Mesa Verde begins by obtaining liquid food waste from manufacturers and retailers. This includes liquids like soups, sauces, beverages, and other consumables that are no longer viable for human consumption. We efficiently extract the organic liquid material using advanced filtration and separation technology, ensuring it is free from any packaging or contaminants.
Certification of Destruction
For liquid products that are recalled, expired, or otherwise unsuitable, Mesa Verde securely handles the destruction and disposal process. We provide a Certification of Destruction to verify that the liquid products have been completely processed and rendered unusable for their original purpose. All non-organic materials are filtered out and responsibly recycled.
Finished Products
Similar to our dry food recovery process, the final stage of our liquid recovery process, the contaminant-free organics are dried and processed into safe, high quality livestock food and compost. Meanwhile, any inorganic materials, such as plastic packaging, are recycled, minimizing environmental impact.
